This boonie hat features ERDL camouflage . The loops around the hat allow for tree branches and leaves to be inserted for a more camouflaged look. Around 1965, the U.S. military perfected the full-scale ERDL camouflage. The design, inspired by lush jungle foliage, is also known as the "leaf pattern." Early ERDL models were made from cotton poplin, but later models were made from more tear-resistant cotton ripstop.
