In the 1970s, a new generation of free-spirited rock climbers called the Stonemasters arrived in Yosemite National Park, California, and pioneered a new way of climbing that focused on speed and style. This new style required a new uniform, and while painter pants and old army clothes worked well enough, they needed more flexibility. Stonemaster Mike Graham, who has a keen eye for design, noticed the flexibility and began developing the first true climbing shorts.
